WELCOME TO THE ENGLISH ROOM

What I offer

At The English Room, I offer expert tutoring for students aged 10 to 18 — from building reading and writing confidence in younger learners to helping older students excel in GCSEs, A-Levels, and university applications.

Whether one-to-one or in small group classes of up to six students, my sessions combine clarity, creativity, and a sharp focus on exam success.

I support students who find English challenging, and stretch those who are ready to go further, with tailored enrichment opportunities.

Students explore classic texts, sharpen their writing, and grow in confidence — all in a warm, inclusive learning space.

My story

After years of teaching classroom English and realsiing how a 'one-size fits all' method of teaching fails students, I wanted to support more students of all ages to fall in love with English and grow in confidence.

This is why I specialise in bespoke tuition and small group courses - each session is tailored to the individual student's personalities and strengths so that they are as useful and fun as possible.

About Me

“Rosalind is kind, patient, friendly and motivating”

I studied English Literature at the University of Cambridge before moving to London to train as a professional singer at the Royal College of Music. While teaching A-level English in a sixth form college to help pay my tuition fees, I discovered a real passion for education — and since then, I’ve never looked back.

Over the years, I’ve taught students of all ages and abilities, from scholarship-level pupils in primary prep to GCSE retake students at sixth form level. I’ve worked with all major exam boards, delivering GCSE English Language, GCSE English Literature, and A-level English Literature in both one-to-one and classroom settings.

After completing my opera studies in Scotland, I began tutoring English online — combining my love of teaching with a flexible, student-focused approach. With nine years of teaching experience behind me, I continue to be passionate about helping students grow in confidence, develop their own voice, and fall in love with literature.
